Modeling & Simulation

AVW has significant experience in all facets of the use of M&S in engineering applications. Working with our ship acquisition program office clients, our Team was a key participant in a revolution in the use of ship design tools for design assessment, production readiness, and test & evaluation purposes. Our efforts in Simulation Based Assessments was, and continues to be, instrumental in all ship building acquisition programs and has become a cornerstone to the acquisition process. We are well versed in 3-D Product & Engineering Design Models, as well as the adjunct software products available to perform form, fit and function, ergonomic and kinetic analysis.

AVW also has substantial past performance in the field of physics based modeling and distributed simulations. We have executed the complete development cycle and use of a complex distributed simulation, the LPD 17 Probability of Raid Annihilation (PRA) Testbed. This included; developing Testbed and model requirements, management of model builds through a spiral development process, establishing configuration management, crafting the testing approach, as well as stewardship of the VV&A effort.

Risk

Risk management, or the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks followed by coordinated and economical application of resources to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of unfortunate events or to maximize the realization of opportunities is an inherent part of our program management expertise. It is not an end in and of itself, but rather part of sound organizational practices that include planning, preparedness, program evaluation, process improvement and priority development. The value of risk management approach or strategy to our clients is not in the promotion of a particular course of action, but rather our ability to distinguish between various choices within the larger acquisition or testing context.

AVW is well positioned to use our strategic planning talents by assisting our clients in managing capabilities-based planning, resourcing decisions, and implementation planning. AVW's risk management skills are well honed. With our corporate and military experience with complex systems we are well versed in examining, from a systems level up to an operational level the impact to performance and capability that can result from loss of functionality. With our corporate capability in Design of Experiments we look to identify the risk, assess its impact and find innovative ways to decompose that risk to acceptable levels. Simultaneously, we also look to maximize opportunities that mitigate risk.
